Founded in 1993, H&A Group is a leading Mechanical & Electrical company based in Draperstown, Co. Derry. Laura, H&A's Business Information Systems Manager, kindly took the time to speak with us about H&A's experience with TimeKeeper, highlighting how it has supported their day to day operations and delivered lasting value.

What solution was in place before TimeKeeper?

"Before TimeKeeper we had a paper based solution in place - manual timesheets - which were submitted to managers manually". H&A relied on a traditional paper-based system to log employees time. This method is not only time consuming but it can also be difficult to keep track of accurately and efficiently. Similarly H&A's "annual leave process was manual. The process worked although was not very efficient". Employees had to submit leave requests in writing, and managers would manually review and approve them.

How was the process of implementing TimeKeeper and tailoring it to H&A's needs?

When searching for a new time and attendance system, H&A’s top priority was ensuring "ease of use". They recognised that a system that was complicated or difficult to navigate would create more problems than it solved, especially when it came to adoption among staff. Laura emphasises that they didn’t anticipate the level of "buy in from staff during their free trial" with TimeKeeper. H&A staff immediately recognised the benefits and embraced the solution.

As a result of using TimeKeeper, what has been the greatest impact?

"TimeKeeper has made payrolls life 10 times easier". The automation and accuracy of the solution has significantly reduced the time and effort required to generate payroll. Furthermore, for H&A, the need for a flexible time and attendance system that could cater to both mobile and office environments was key. "Our operatives are field-based, we needed to have a mobile application as well as an onsite desktop application. With TimeKeeper - we have that."

Field based operatives clock in each morning on the TimeKeeper mobile app while office based staff "access TimeKeeper through the TimeKeeper portal. Once they're clocked in, they don't have to worry until the end of day where they then clock out."

Would you recommend TimeKeeper to other companies?

"Whenever we first implemented TimeKeeper, we looked at it solely as a time & attendance system but it has grown into so much more for us. We're glad we'll never see a paper based timesheet again".
